Course overview

Diverse workplaces are wonderful to work in. All those different points of view can help teams to innovate and grow together. And everyone has the right to work somewhere they feel respected and welcome. Team leaders and managers need to make sure they communicate in a way that contributes to a positive workplace culture, where everyone feels supported and understood. But how can they make sure they communicate respectfully and sensitively with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds? And how can they recognize any cultural bias present in their approach?

Cultural competence involves developing their awareness of cultural differences, so they can communicate effectively with people from a range of backgrounds. It can help them encourage collaboration, and strengthen relationships with colleagues, external partners, and customers. And it’ll allow them to adapt to different cultural contexts with sensitivity, by challenging their own cultural bias.
